A recent solo
exhibition by Mudassar Manzoor at Ejaz Gallery, Lahore,
heralded the emergence of a very exciting new talent
on the art circuit. Manzoor, who acquired a Bachelor
of Fine Arts, first division with distinction from the
National College of Arts, Lahore, in 2005, contributed
outstanding work to the annual Emerging Talent Exhibition
held at the V.M. Gallery that year, and since 2004 has
taken part in several group shows in India, Iran, and
Pakistan.

Before
taking admission in NCA, Manzoor qualified as a mechanic,
and obtained a Diploma in Computer Graphics from the
Punjab University. Throughout the period of his art
education at NCA, he continued family support and independence
working as a graphic designer. He was the recipient
of several prizes and a merit scholarship during this
period and he also assisted at R.M.Naeem’s Drawing
Studio in Lahore. Manzoor looks upon the established
artist as his mentor and guide. Indeed, his first solo
exhibition was dedicated to his mother and R.M. Naeem,
and now his desire is to concentrate on his art without
distraction.
The
recent exhibition was extraordinary. Each work of art
portrayed solitary figures, described in miniscule detail.
The features, hands and each strand of hair of the subject
were incredibly depicted; one had to view each painting
at length through a magnifying glass to appreciate the
artist’s skill with his media. Now Manzoor is
keen to continue
