1 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
3/4 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup frozen corn, defrosted
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
6 buns

Brown ground beef, onion, and green pepper in large skillet. Drain off fat. Add barbecue sauce, corn, salt and pepper and heat thoroughly. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Serve Sloppy Joes on buns.

125 gm plain white flour
75 gm margarine or butter
25 gm sugar
50 gm porridge oats

Peel and slice some apples and put them in the bottom of an oven-proof dish. You can also use pears, rhubarb, orange or can mix two fruits together. Get your children to mix all the flour, margarine and sugar until they are like breadcrumbs or, alternatively whizz the mixture for 15 seconds in the food processor. Stir in the oats and put the mixture on top of the apples. Bake on 190 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and serve with yoghurt or custard.
