“My forte…
Has been talk shows (with emphasis on issues and analysis), I have always been involved in conceptualization and content. Hence, with Uljhan Suljhan and now with Geo Hina kay Saath, I donned the cloak of a producer too.
My job involves…
Conceptualization, execution and airing of the programme. Every matter that needs to be resolved lands on the producer’s plate! Steering the entire project and the team, positions the producer as the captain of the ship who resolves and supervises all technical and non-technical matters.
I have always been…
A people’s person and view life in all its reality – that reality is generally connected to common human issues, personal traumas and celebrations of real people with real experiences. This is the reality I like to pursue. I have used talk shows, documentaries and videos as means of presentation for my thoughts. Hopefully, one day I might use drama or film as a medium.
In the pipeline…
Is a project for Geo TV’s upcoming English Channel and very soon you will see me in a new light – performing as an actress for a new drama serial. Sometimes the platform of make-belief is more successful in conveying real life. I have tried to justify my character in all its reality and hope that it will be understood!”

“I started…
Production through Indus Vision. Currently, I am working at TVOne, heading She’s On One, the morning show. I have produced Social Diaries, Bacha Party, KIVA: The Circle of Wisdom, which is my concept and World in Your Kitchen.
A good producer…
Is someone who has no attitude or hang-ups, whatsoever. Someone who does her homework well before the project starts and is ready to coordinate and even clean the set, if required! Most importantly, someone who is extremely organized...and cool-headed!
I love…
Doing talk shows and shows that create awareness and can help the public in general, especially regarding issues dealing with women, kids and teenagers.
The programme closest to my heart has been KIVA: The Circle of Wisdom — a special show on issues concerning teenagers. It was my concept and I researched for three months to find the correct topics. I actually read through dozens and dozens of sheets of research material. I hunted and found the perfect host, a psychological therapist. Being an educationist, it was easy for me and I loved it.
My future projects…
Include a short play, a reality lifestyle show and a new show for kids. But the most important show for me is something that I have always wanted to do. It is my dream project, which I promise will be unusual. It is a surprise and I will not reveal anything about it yet.”

“The stepping stone…
For me was Masala TV which I joined as a Project Manager and Producer in March 2007. I was assigned the task of ensuring quantity and quality of programmes on the channels as it was new and was facing teething problems but considering the uniqueness of the channel, the staff was motivated. My position as the project manager for the entire channel involved a lot of research to make the channel programming not only entertaining but informative also, while my role as a producer involved scheduling of shoots, creative input in script writing and presentation, liaison with chefs and execution of special events. The shows that I have managed are Good Milk Good Food, Chatpatey Chatkharey, Ramzan Methas, Flavours of Ramzan, Recipe of the Day, Oven Hot, Mazedar Ifftar with Zakir, Khas Khaney Khas Log and Khaney Main Kya Hai.
Quality of programming…
Depends on how a producer handles the project. A good producer is someone who is extremely organized; has excellent time-management skills; is willing to face challenges; stays ahead of the team; has vision and most importantly commands respect.
I enjoy…
Producing programmes that are not only entertaining but are also informative.
FUTURE HOLDS…
A lot of programmes especially reality-based cooking and lifestyle shows, a cooking competition as well as a cooking game show for kids.”
